Located in Warrington, the immense 32,000 sq.m. unit can sort up to 600,000 parcels every day.
We were engaged to monitor the shell construction, adapting it to suit Royal Mail’s requirements and to design two key stages of fit-out. Stage 1, completed in July 2019, saw the building become operational in parcel sorting. Stage 2, completed in July 2022, saw the installation of a parcel machine incorporating the latest scanning, sorting, and tracking technology. We worked extensively with the operations team to develop safe internal and external working environments.
As part of their Steps to Zero environmental plan, the energy efficient building uses sustainable techniques such as rainwater harvesting and houses a fleet of twenty bio-compressed natural gas (bio-CNG) HGVs. It achieved a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ Rating.
