“Surely, to earn its place in the modern world, all new architecture must have sustainability at its heart.”

“I’ve been a practicing architect for over 20 years, and you don’t get to that point without gaining some serious experience. While my entire career shows a heavy bias towards Sport and Leisure, I’ve covered most sectors in my time and worked on projects with budgets running into seven figures. Before joining Watson Batty, in 2009, I’d worked at two other high-profile local practices. I’ve been Technical Advisor, Client Design Advisor, Masterplanner and Contract Administrator.

It’s no secret that sport is a personal passion, and it’s been a thrill to specialise in this area, helping to develop some world-class facilities for many national sports bodies, such as Sport England, UK Athletics, the FA and the Rugby Football League.

Within my time in the industry, of all the various aspects of modern architecture, there’s one that has clearly risen to the top of our awareness. Sustainability has certainly captured my imagination because it’s an ever-progressing area. As Practice Sustainability Lead, I keep close tabs on every new development and ensure we’re always at the forefront.”
