I joined Watson Batty in May 2025.

I am an Architect working in the Living sector on PBSA (purpose-built student accommodation) schemes.

For me, projects take off once the contractor becomes involved, shedding light on the cost and buildability of the details I have worked very hard on. Listening to input from my design team colleagues ensures a well-rounded proposal moves forward to construction. Fruitful collaboration is about carefully working through the nuances of a project to find the right solutions, as well as respecting and balancing sometimes contrary agendas.

I was attracted to architecture because it is exceptionally multi-faceted. Already, I find it a diverse and challenging role that stretches all my practical and creative skills. I am keen to explore greater innovation and efficiencies in the use of sustainable construction methods.

Long-term, I hope the role of the architect continues to attract talented people and remains valued by the wider industry.
