Architectural Assistant

“I want my buildings to help people feel safe, included, and totally at home.”

I joined Watson Batty in September 2025.

I am a Part 1 Architectural Assistant working in the Sport & Leisure and Education sectors.

Team encouragement has smoothed my transition into work. I love being part of the creative process, but a steep learning curve for me has been coordinating the multiple different requirements of building regulations and design standards. Client meetings are helping me appreciate how architecture centres on delivery.

My final year project was a crematorium and reflection centre that used simple geometry and intentional use of light and shadow to create calmness. I was overjoyed when it won a ‘Best Design for Wellbeing’ award.

My strengths are creative problem solving and visual communication, and my long-term focus is holistic design that cares for people. Balancing sustainability with cost and safety is a real challenge, but, using my research, I intend to deliver clever, economical ways of re-using buildings.
