WDH was established in 2005 and is now one of the UK’s largest social housing providers, with over 32,000 homes across the Wakefield district and the north of England.
As an appointed architect on Efficiency North’s consultant framework, we are providing WDH with planning support for six different sites in Wakefield, Featherstone, Pontefract, South Elmsall, Knottingley, and Lupset.
We have designed proposals for new build schemes containing a mix of two and three bed affordable family homes, and helped Esh Construction, Jack Lunn Construction, and RH Fullwood deliver the schemes on site. Often replacing redundant housing and flats on brownfield sites, these new dwellings are available for rent and shared ownership to meet local housing need.
We are working on a scheme of 50 affordable dwellings for rent and shared ownership on a high-profile, city centre brownfield site. The mix of three-bed, three-storey townhouses, and one- and two-bed apartments addresses a local shortage of affordable housing and is part of a long-term scheme to regenerate the Kirkgate area. We helped deliver a public consultation process with local households and businesses, to engage with the community about WDH’s vision for the site and obtain valuable pre-planning feedback on the proposals.
