Following a bidding process in which WBA assisted Henry Boot Construction Ltd in their submission, Henry Boot Construction were successful in being appointed by the University of Leeds to deliver an extension and internal alteration at the School of Earth and Environment.
Starting on site at the end of 2017, the existing undercroft carpark at level 7 was infilled with an extension forming an open plan office space, meeting room and welfare. A new mezzanine level was constructed on level 10 creating a new floor, level 11, for additional office and meeting space.
The School of Earth and Environment originally formed part of the Chamberlin Powell and Bon 1960’s University Masterplan and is included on the ‘List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest’ with a Grade II listing. WBA worked in partnership with Henry Boot Construction and their supply chain to ensure the project goals were met and the preservation of the listed element was maintained. As a result WBA fully modelled the existing building in Revit and incorporated the proposed works to ensure the design was fully coordinated with all design partners.
The project completed in August 2018, with an on schedule 35 week build. WBA are extremely proud to have supported Henry Boot Construction on the delivery of a successful project.
