Forming part of Bushey Fields Hospital in Dudley, West Midlands of Dudley and Walsall Mental Health Partnership (NHS Trust), Clee Ward is 1 of 5 similar permanent accommodation blocks for mental health patients with varying needs.
The brief was to create a calm, modern and inviting ward space which would become a precedent for the Trust. The challenges of the project were to keep to the brief but without compromising the secure and clinical requirements of mental health patients.
The ward was officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Dudley in July 2018 with other local trusts invited to view the newly refurbished ward which is seen to be leading innovative design in Mental health nation-wide.
The completed ward now comprises of 20 bedrooms which includes 2no venerable patient suites, bath and shower rooms, lounge / dining areas, activity rooms, clinic room, life skills areas, staff ancillary / office spaces and external courtyard relaxation space.
These have been fully refurbished to current standards in line with a new build project.
Our direct client Kier Services (SCAPE) and the end user are proud of the finished project and the same design ethos is to be used on future ward refurbishments at Bushey Fields Hospital and Trust wide across Dudley and Walsall.
The project value was £1.3m. Completion July 2018.
