Following a procurement process via the Reallies Consultancy Framework, Watson Batty Architects have been successfully appointed by Wakefield District Housing to provide planning support across four sites within the district.
The current state of the sites comprises a mix of redundant sheltered housing and flats, with recent figures showing there are over 20,000 people currently on WDH’s waiting list for a new home. As a result of this high demand, affordable family homes have been allocated for the developments in line with the local housing need. Available for rent and shared ownership, the new developments will consist of a mix of 2 Bed and 3 Bed family homes.
Watson Batty Architects have an excellent track record in delivering affordable homes across the region with extensive experience and knowledge in dealing with local authorities to prepare planning material for successful approval. Each of the four sites within this appointment have all presented their own challenges, with the team working closely with the design team and Wakefield Council to overcome these.
The developments are due for completion in Spring 2021.
