Summer Round Up – A Practice Insight from Managing Director Peter White

Business remains brisk as Watson Batty enters in to the new financial year and whilst not being without its challenges post Brexit, still offers some exciting opportunities across the business from both our Leeds and Loughborough studios. It is particularly encouraging as we approach our tenth year in Loughborough how all the hard work has been rewarded and how well the studio is doing, broadening its client base and sector coverage.

The financial year 2017/ 2018 was one of the most exciting in the Company’s 43-year history seeing some significant changes to the ownership structure of the long-established business.

Truly believing in the capabilities of their team has enabled Watson Batty to secure the future career paths of some key team members by offering them the opportunity to gain equity and play a part in the Company’s future succession plans, well in advance of key decisions needing to be made. It also allows them to play a key role in moulding the future direction of the business.

The Company truly believes in the ethos of Investing in their People, after all they play such a fundamental role in its success. As circumstance allows, this model will continue to evolve further in the years to come and as others step up within the Company structure.

Continuing evidence of the succession planning comes at the end of July when Paul Ryan steps aside after over 25 years with the Company. The Business has also recently seen some other retirements, enabling it to carry out some targeted recruitment to add some exciting young talent to its team. The Company is always on the look out for strong Architectural talent at all levels.

This year more than ever sees Watson Batty well placed to take advantage of its wide sector knowledge and expertise, looking to continue to build on their many existing relationships as well as looking toward forging new ones. Last year saw Watson Batty carry out work in some new sectors – blue light, office refurbishment and interior design are all areas that offers significant potential this coming year.

All that said Watson Batty Architects will continue to deliver the exceptional service that it is known for across the industry #FutureBuilt.
