Working with VolkerFitzpatrick Construction, Watson Batty Architects have recently handed over a new-build 5,100sqm Royal Mail Delivery Office in the Nine Elms area of central London. The Royal Mail facility forms part of one of Europe’s largest regeneration zones covering 561 acres and creating 18,000 new homes across, Nine Elms, Vauxhall, the Albert Embankment and North Battersea areas.
Replacing existing facilities close by in Vauxhall, the Nine Elms Delivery Office will provide a sorting facility to manage over 100 postal routes in the Captial. Alongside the Delivery Office, Royal Mail have built a multi-storey car park for staff and delivery vehicle use, helping minimise the footprint of the development. Constructed with a BREAAM Excellent rating the project delivers the highest standard of sustainable design integrating features such as LED lighting and Photovoltaic panels.
The Nine Elms Delivery Office is the latest project we have completed for our client of over twenty-five years; Royal Mail. Watson Batty Architects is delighted to have worked on such a prestigious project in this previously forgotten area of central London.
