With both the structural slab, steelwork and glulam beam packages being complete the Dining Room Extension for the University of York St John is well on its way and on programme to open in March 2016. Once complete the extension, which is being constructed by Hall Construction Group, will provide a stunning addition to the university campus taking its place among modern, award-winning, listed historical buildings.
The facility will provide an additional dining area as well as a social venue for students and the University. An external dinning terrace is designed to link with the University’s ambitious landscaping proposals which will be designed to enhance the setting of the surrounding buildings as well as making the centre of the campus more pedestrian friendly and providing aesthetic improvements.
Directly adjacent to the Dining Hall Extension another Watson Batty Architects designed project has also started on site also with Hall Construction Group. The Students Union Relocation Project will see an existing student residential building and the former Arts Block linked together with a new build extension forming the entrance to the facility. Works are currently in the early stages with the construction of the foundations and the demolition of the internal structure. The projects is due to complete in August 2016.
