PLANS SUBMITTED FOR SHEFFIELD HALLAM’S NATIONAL CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE FOR FOOD ENGINEERING

WBA are delighted to announce that plans based upon their RIBA Stage 2 designs for the National Centre of Excellence for Food Engineering at Sheffield Hallam University have been submitted by BAM Construction to Sheffield City Council. With a decision due by the end of May, if successful, work will commence on site in July 2018 with the centre due to open in March 2019.

When completed, the new Centre, strategically located alongside the Olympic Legacy Park in Sheffield, will focus on engineering processes of food production allowing for greater levels of study in this area. Offering laboratories, conference areas, workshops and teaching spaces, this research led facility will address an industry recognised shortage of food engineering expertise. Throughout the centres development, Watson Batty Architects will carry on supporting the project team via a Technical Advisory Role.
